Envision Group has signed strategic cooperation agreements for more than 40 GWh of battery energy storage cells with over a dozen Chinese system integrators, the company announced during the EESA Energy Storage Exhibition held on August 13–15 at Shanghai’s National Exhibition and Convention Center.
The cells will be supplied by Envision AESC, the company’s battery arm. Counterparties include XYZ Storage Technology, Kunyu Power Supply, Alpha ESS, Zhejiang Hi-tech Equipment Manufacturing and Shanghai Cairi Energy Technology, among other domestic integrators.
The agreements centre on Envision AESC’s large format 315 Ah and 530 Ah storage cells. The upgraded 315 Ah cell delivers an energy density of 180Wh/kg, a cycle life exceeding 12,000 cycles and single-cell capacity of 1.008 kWh, designed to fit today’s mainstream ~6 MWh-class stationary systems. The 530Ah cell, expected to enter mass production in 2025, raises single-cell capacity above 1.6 kWh while retaining a 12,000-cycle life and energy efficiency above 95%, according to the company.
Envision said its storage cell portfolio has passed more than 200 global safety tests and secured certifications from authorities in China, Japan, the United States, the European Union and South Korea. It highlighted strong performance in the UL9540A thermal runaway evaluation, positioning the product line to shorten certification lead times for Chinese storage exporters.
To support execution of the 40 GWh agreements, Envision AESC pointed to a global manufacturing footprint spanning 13 battery “gigafactories” in Jiangyin, Ordos, Cangzhou and Shiyan in China, as well as Ibaraki (Japan), Douai (France) and Tennessee (United States). The group targets total nameplate capacity of 400 GWh, with storage-dedicated capacity accounting for more than 30%. Its Cangzhou, Hebei, plant – commissioned in November 2024 with 10 GWh annual capacity – supplies products directly to Europe and North America.
By the end of June 2025, Envision AESC had delivered more than 50 GWh of storage cells to over 300 projects across 20-plus countries, while maintaining what it described as an industry-leading record of “zero fires and zero safety incidents”.
The company said the latest agreements will support China’s current build-out of large wind-solar-storage energy bases in the north and northwest led by state-owned energy groups. Through collaborations with integrators such as XYZ Storage Technology and Alpha ESS, Envision’s cells are expected to be deployed in co-located settings as well as front-of-the-meter standalone storage projects that support renewable integration.
