FIRST SOLAR POWER ENERGY TRADE SHOW IN MEXICO

Three main organizers of global energy events from the United States, China and Germany will present the first solar energy fair and conference in Mexico in collaboration with Asolmex.

MEXICO CITY SEPTEMBER 5, 2018.- In March 2019 Mexico will host its first B2B solar energy trade show and conference. Deutsche Messe, Germany, SNEC PV Power Expo, China and Solar Power International (SPI), USA are the three global energy event organizers who will put together Solar Power Mexico (SPM).

The first edition of Solar Power Mexico will be the most specialized event to ever be carried out on national territory, bringing the latest innovations and equipment from Europe, Asia, the United States and Latin America to Centro Citibanamex in Mexico City from March 19 to 21, 2019.

At the press conference, the three organizers were announced. Deutsche Messe from Germany attracts exhibitors and visitors since 1947 and currently manages 130 trade shows attended by 3.5 million visitors and 40,000 exhibitors. Deutsche Messe organizes CanWEA, Canada´s leading wind energy conference and exhibition, Hydrogen + Fuel Cells NORTH AMERICA, the international meeting point of the Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Community in the USA, Solar Canada, Canada´s largest solar energy exhibition and conference, among others. Its subsidiary, Hannover Fairs México, was established in 2016 to cover the need for the internationalization of different economic sectors within the country.

Another organizer is SNEC PV Power Expo (China), the largest photovoltaic fair in the world held annually in Shanghai, China, with 200 thousand m2. In 2018, the fair brought more than two thousand exhibiting companies from 95 countries and regions worldwide.

The third organizer will be Solar Power International (SPI) from the US, which organizes the largest solar energy fair in North America, with more than 20 thousand visitors and 700 exhibitors. SPI is an event that is simultaneously organized with Energy Storage International (ESI) and is the largest energy storage event in North America. Also, it is co-located with Hydrogen + Fuel Cells NORTH AMERICA. Together, these events are carried out by two leading energy associations, the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) and the Smart Electric Power Alliance (SEPA).

Additionally, the Mexican Association of Solar Energy (Asolmex) and Deutsche Messe agreed to join forces for Solar Power Mexico. Asolmex will exclusively assist and support Solar Power Mexico 2019. 

"The participation of Asolmex, the main association on a national level in the solar energy field will be of great importance for the promotion of Solar Power Mexico´s first edition," said Sarah Möller, spokesperson of the event.

During the press conference, Tobias Lange, First Secretary of the German Embassy in Mexico, gave a welcoming statement.

After his participation, Solar Power Mexico was presented by the event´s three organizers: Bernd Rohde, Managing Director, Hannover Fairs México, Yue Mi, Director, SNEC PV Power Expo and Lori Smith, Director of Sales, Solar Energy Trade Shows.

Also present at the conference were SPM´s strategic partners and supporters, who will contribute towards the realization of the fair: Héctor Olea, President of Asolmex - Mexican Solar Energy Association; Josche Muth, Coordinator, Energy Alliance between Mexico and Germany; Joscha Rosenbusch, Principal Advisor, DKTI - Large Scale Solar Energy Program in Mexico; GIZ - Gesellschaft für internationale Zusammenarbeit (German Cooperation for Sustainable Development in Mexico).

The allies expressed that SPM will be the only and most important solar trade show on national territory: with a projection 100 exhibitors from the United States, Asia, Europe, Mexico and Latin America.

At the conference, it was mentioned how according to the Mexican Ministry of Energy (SENER) in the publication PRODESEN 2018-2032, the energy produced from solar cells is estimated to grow to 11.6 GW in 2032.

Photovoltaic energy already plays an important role in the generation of electricity in some countries, due to the rapid decrease in the costs of its production, which favourably competes against the generation of electricity from fossil fuels.

Solar photovoltaic (PV) technology prices have decreased by approximately 75% to those registered in 2009. Similarly, the total installed costs of large-scale photovoltaic systems have registered a decrease of up to 65% during that period.

The Energy Reform increased the generation of electricity via solar by 714 percent in Mexico in the last two years, which also supports the fulfilment of the Kyoto commitment and the mitigation established in the energy transition law, which indicates that the sector must be transformed so that in 2024 only a maximum of 65 percent of the electricity comes from fossil fuels.
